Pip
is a self-taught professional wildlife artist with an international reputation.
He was the 'Artist-in-Residence' at Marwell Zoological Park in Hampshire for
ten years and is the founder and Chairman of Marwell International Wildlife
Art Society (MIWAS), currently the largest wildlife art society in Europe.
For a number of years he has led an annual camping safari for artists and photographers
into the remote game reserves of Northern Botswana and more recently Tanzania.
Pip's next trip will be taking a group of seventeen artists and photographers
to the mighty Selous National Park in Tanzania in March 2010. Pip has also travelled
extensively and has lived both in Central America and the Far East.
Nearly thirty of his pictures have been sold via Christies International auctions - his painting 'Flight of the Zebra' fetching a record price of £29,300.00 ($57,985.00) in May 2008. His work is currently published by Sally Mitchell Fine Art Ltd in the UK and is licensed in the USA by Applejack Art Partners.
Through funds donated by MIWAS and sales of his own paintings, Pip has currently raised over £150,000 for wildlife conservation. This includes donations to DSWF, Save The Tiger, the Epulu Okapi Game Reserve, Dambari Black rhino Foundation, the Five Talents charity and Marwell Wildlife Park.
In 2003, he was filmed at Marwell Zoological Park for an hour long instructional painting video and DVD for Teaching Art Ltd.
In 2004, Pip was filmed on location in Kenya and at Marwell Zoological Park with Meridian Television for the highly successful television series, 'A Brush With The Wild'. The programme was presented by Anneka Rice and featured Pip teaching celebrities such as Nerys Hughes, Jenny Eclair, Christine Hamilton and Linda Robson how to paint wildlife.
Pip is also on the Advisory Panel for the popular 'Artists and Illustrators'
magazine and is one of the judges for the BBC 'Wildlife Artist of the Year'
competition. He is a member of the UK Fine Art Trade Guild, an elected member
of the prestigious 'Society of Animal Artists' in New York, USA and a member
of 'Artists For Conservation' in Canada.
